FAQs

Straight answers.

The things people ask before booking. If yours is not here, message me and you’ll get a real answer rather than a sales one.

Before you book

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly. If anything in your history suggests you should see a GP or a consultant first, I will say so and refer you on rather than treat you.

Which treatment should I book?

If it is your first visit, the initial consultation — always. It is the longer appointment that works out what is going on. After that we will know which follow-up suits you.

Do I need to know what is wrong first?

Not at all. Working that out is the job. “My shoulder hurts when I press overhead and I do not know why” is a perfectly good starting point.

Is there parking?

Yes — details are sent with your booking confirmation along with directions to the clinic.

The appointment

What should I wear?

Shorts and a vest or t-shirt. I need to see the area move, not just touch it. If you come straight from work, there are always towels and we will manage.

Will it hurt?

Some techniques are uncomfortable, but nothing should be unbearable and I will keep checking in. Deeper does not mean better — that is one of the more stubborn myths in this industry.

Will I be sore afterwards?

Sometimes, for about 24 to 48 hours, in the way you might be after a decent gym session. Drink water, keep moving gently, and it settles.

How long is a session?

The initial consultation runs up to 75 minutes. Follow-ups are 60 or 30 minutes depending on what we are doing.

Afterwards

How many sessions will I need?

You get an honest estimate at the end of the first appointment. Sometimes it is one. Straightforward problems are often three to four; long-standing ones take longer. I would rather tell you that up front.

Can I train afterwards?

Usually yes, though keep it easy for 24 hours after a first session. If you have something specific planned, tell me at the start and I will adjust the work.

Do I have to do the exercises?

If you want it to stay fixed, yes. There will only be two or three, and they take minutes. What happens in the other 167 hours of your week matters more than the hour with me.

What if it does not improve?

Then we change the plan, or I refer you to someone better placed to help. Carrying on with something that is not working is not a treatment strategy.

Payment & cancellations

How do I pay?

Card or bank transfer at the end of the session. No deposit is needed to book.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice so the slot can go to someone else. Life happens — just let me know as early as you can.

Can I claim on insurance?

Some policies cover soft tissue therapy. Check with your provider first, and I will give you an itemised receipt for your claim.

Still wondering

Ask me anything.

No question is too basic. If you have never had treatment before and are not sure what to expect, that is exactly the sort of thing to ask.
