Terms & Cancellations

Booking terms, the 24-hour cancellation policy, payment, health and safety, and what to expect from treatment.

These terms apply to treatment booked with MK Soft Tissue Therapy. Booking an appointment means accepting them.

Last updated: 4 August 2026

Appointments and booking

  • Every new client starts with an initial consultation. It runs up to 75 minutes and includes assessment, treatment and a plan to take home.
  • No deposit is required to book.
  • Appointment times include the consultation, treatment and aftercare discussion — they are not treatment time alone.
  • Confirmation, directions and parking details are sent when you book.

Cancellations and missed appointments

This is a single-therapist clinic. A cancelled appointment at short notice usually cannot be filled, so:

  • More than 24 hours’ notice — cancel or rearrange free of charge.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice — the full fee may be charged.
  • Missed appointment with no contact — the full fee may be charged.
  • Illness or emergency — please just get in touch. Genuine circumstances are dealt with sensibly and a fee is rarely applied.

If Lisa needs to cancel, you will be given as much notice as possible and offered the first available alternative. No charge applies in that situation.

Arriving late

Please arrive a few minutes early. If you arrive late the session will still finish at the scheduled time, so that following clients are not delayed, and the full fee still applies. If you are running late, a message is always appreciated.

Fees and payment

  • Current prices are shown on the pricing page and are payable at the end of each session.
  • Payment is by card or bank transfer.
  • Receipts are provided on request, including itemised receipts for insurance claims.
  • Prices may change, but never for an appointment already booked.

Your health and safety

You will be asked to complete a consultation form before your first treatment and to keep Lisa informed of any changes afterwards. This matters — some conditions and medications change what treatment is safe or appropriate.

  • Please disclose all relevant medical conditions, medication, injuries, allergies and whether you are pregnant.
  • Treatment may be declined or adapted where it would not be safe or appropriate.
  • You may be referred to a GP, physiotherapist or other professional where that is the right course. This is a normal part of responsible practice, not a refusal to help.
  • You can stop treatment at any point during a session, for any reason, without explanation.

What this is, and what it is not

Soft tissue therapy supports recovery, movement and comfort. It is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace advice from your GP or a consultant. No guarantee can be given about the outcome of treatment — bodies vary, and so does response.

Some soreness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment is normal and expected.

Aftercare and exercises

You will usually leave with two or three things to do at home. These are given based on the assessment on the day. Please follow them as described, stop if anything causes sharp or increasing pain, and get in touch if something does not feel right.

Conduct

This is a professional clinical setting. Any behaviour that is inappropriate or makes the environment unsafe will end the appointment immediately, the full fee will be charged, and no further bookings will be accepted.

Children and young people

Clients under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must remain present for the whole appointment and give consent to treatment.

Complaints

If anything falls short, please say so — directly and early is best, and most things are put right straight away. Contact Lisa at mk_stt@outlook.com or 07852 301412. Complaints that cannot be resolved directly may be raised with the Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists (ISRM), of which Lisa is a registered member.
