Treatment

The appointment that answers the question.

Up to 75 minutes. Full assessment, hands-on treatment in the same session, and a plan you can follow at home. £65.

Soft tissue therapist assessing a client’s shoulder movement

What you are booking

Not a massage with a form on the front.

The first appointment is longer for a reason. Most of the answer comes out of the conversation and the movement testing, not the treatment itself — so that is where the time goes.

You still get hands-on work in the same session. You just also leave knowing why it hurts and what to do about it.

The 75 minutes

How the time is spent.

  1. 01

    We talk

Your history, your pain, your training, your job, your sleep. What makes it worse and what makes it better. This is where most of the answer comes from.

  2. 02

    We test

Functional movement, gait, mobility and strength testing. I need to see what your body does under load, not just what it reports lying down.

  3. 03

    Hands on

Treatment in the same session. Soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques, trigger point work and myofascial release, matched to what the testing showed.

  4. 04

    You leave with a plan

Two or three things to do at home, and an honest view on how many sessions this is likely to take. Sometimes the answer is one.

A note on expectations. Sometimes one session is enough. Sometimes it is four to six. You will get an honest estimate at the end of the first appointment, not a package you have to buy before we know what we are dealing with.

Before you come

Common questions.

What should I wear?

Shorts and a vest or t-shirt are ideal, so I can see and access the areas we are working on. If you forget, there are always towels and I will work around it.

Will it hurt?

Some techniques are uncomfortable, but nothing should be unbearable and I will keep checking. Deeper is not automatically better — that is a myth worth letting go of.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book directly. If anything in your history suggests you should see a GP or a consultant first, I will tell you and refer you on.

Can I train afterwards?

Usually yes, though I would keep it easy for 24 hours after a first session. If you have something specific in the diary, tell me at the start and I will adjust the work accordingly.
